COVID - 19
CPTAA have decided that the river beats are to remain closed to Anglers until at least the next review by Welsh Government on 28th May. This is out of respect and consideration for our riparian owners.
Teifi Pools and Llyn Berwyn are open but anglers must observe social distancing rules. Please wear gloves when opening any gates and observe the Countryside Code.
Please remember that you can only travel locally to fish.
Thank you.
The committee.
UPDATE
It is now over two years since the incident took place.
Regrettably despite the best efforts of Fish Legal we are yet to have any response from NRW as the regulatory authority. We await publication of their investigation into the cause of the incident.
ORIGINAL REPORT
It is with great regret that I have to confirm that last weekend 17/18 th December 2016 the River Teifi suffered a massive pollution incident which has killed thousands of fish from significant adult breeding Salmon through to fry.
This has been a devastating tragedy for the club and for local private fishery owners.
We are awaiting the outcome of the NRW investigation into the incident and are working with Angling Trust and Fish Legal in order to bring about the fullest and earliest restitution of the river and the environment. Because of the legal implications the club will not be making any further comments on this matter until advised to do so by our solicitors.
This is an extremely sad and cruel end to our centenary year but we are resolved to continue as a club and will be developing our youth programme and wilderness fishing on our unaffected waters.
