International Youth Rivers Festival
Tregaron 2008
At the end of the Spring bank holiday week, the Youth from EYFA and our Welsh counterparts WSTAA, met up again for the annual rivers Festival at Tregaron in west
Over 30 youth members joined in the fun, many to experience river fishing for the first time. Armed with a new set of skills, everyone caught fish, lots of fish!
After a fly-tying session and comp on the Friday night, we gathered on the River Teifi to hone our skills. Coaches from both countries helped develop the skills and knowledge around nymphing and dry fly techniques, as well as river-craft, catch and release techniques and an examination of the rivers bug life.
It was fantastic to see members of the medal winning 2007 World Team help coach, mentor and inspire the new recruits.
After a quick picnic lunch, it was off to the guided fishing trips along the river. The weather was bright and the conditions challenging, however everyone caught fish! The day ended with a pig roast BBQ and tackle auction.
